Regional Park of Monte Orlando

The Monte Orlando promontory is part of the Riviera di Ulisse regional Park. Jutting into the Gulf of Gaeta, it ends with a spectacular cliff overlooking the sea. It represents the extremity of the Aurunci chain of mountains located closest to the sea and this location creates the ideal climate for particular plant groups that are typical of the Mediterranean scrub enveloping the entire hill. From a geological point of view, the rainwater and erosion from the sea have created caves, cavities and crevices such as Montagna Spaccata (Split Mountain) and the Grotta del Turco. Diving in the depths of the stretch in front of the cliffs is an unforgettable experience thanks to the variety of species and geological structures of interest.
